A lot of confusion between Abacus & Vedic Maths program is there among people. Large no of people finds Abacus & Vedic Maths as the same course.
Let us find out the truth…
Abacus & Vedic Maths are entirely different programs. To make it simple, I’ll explain both the programs in different paragraphs and with the help of an image that distinguishes it.
What is Abacus?
Abacus is primarily a brain development program. It develops the brain of a child which helps a child not only in maths but in all the subjects. Be it English, Hindi, Science, Social Science etc. The base of operating Abacus tool is maths, therefore the result appears as mental maths. Abacus is a concentration development program too that helps a child in learning all the subjects quickly. An abacus learner starts visualizing the text rather mugging up the text. Abacus consists of basic operator’s calculation i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. The right age of joining abacus course for a child is from 5 to 14 years as it is considered to be the best age for brain development.
What is Vedic Maths?
Vedic Maths has got nothing to do with brain development. Vedic Maths works only for mathematical calculations. With the help of Vedic Maths, one can easily perform calculations much faster than the conventional calculation way. For example: if a student takes 3 hours to complete a maths exam using conventional calculation system, the same student can complete the same maths exam within 2 hours by using Vedic Maths sutras/tricks. Apart from basic operators (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division), Vedic Maths provides tricks for squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots, fractions, algebraic expressions and lots more which is why IIVA (Indian Institute of Vedicmaths & Abacus) recommends Vedic Maths program from grade 6 students onwards.
